If you're a lawyer, how do you sift through the cases that you need to strengthen your argument? You can have 10s of thousands of cases and how do we filter them? We can go over to proceedings filters. Say we want to filter by motion to dismiss our summary judgment. Now you can filter by jurisdiction that proceedings filter and really be able to intuitively streamline your case research. Pick the cases that are going to make the most sense for your. Arguments and do the best for your clients.

Early this year, I participated in a catchy event organized by the California Western Law Review and the California Western International Law Journal, the 2024 Symposium at California Western School of Law ‘Accountable #AI: #ResponsibleGovernance of New & #EmergingTechnologies’. My paper is now published and out there (#openaccess): Vera Lúcia Raposo, ‘The Digital "To Kill a Mockingbird": Artificial Intelligence Biases in Courts’, California Western International Law Journal, 54(2), Article 4, 2024, https://lnkd.in/dB3muifHThis Paper addresses the use of #artificialintelligence (“AI”) in the #judicialsystem, specifically its application in making #Predictions that influence #JudicialDecisions, and the #legal and #ethical concerns stemming from #AIbiases. First, this Paper will explore the various roles that AI can play in this domain, with a particular emphasis on AI in #riskassessment and #recidivismprediction. This involves analyzing #data related to a crime and a defendant to generate predictions. A significant concern in this area revolves around biases. While biases in criminal justice have long been recognized as a critical issue, there has been optimism that AI could mitigate these biases. However, this may not necessarily be the case. There is potential for risk assessment AI to enhance sentencing #accuracy and reduce #humanerror and bias.'People generally see what they look for, and hear what they listen for' ― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

The profound exploration of digitalization's allure and the intricate legislative challenges were eloquently showcased through a series of compelling presentations at the recent events hosted by the Faculty of Law at the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University in Iași. These included the "Go digital in Law" program and the esteemed international conference "Legal Perspectives on the Internet" COPEJI 7.0. The central theme for this year was thought-provoking: "E (private & professional)-life boosted by AI and fueled by data. Are we prepared?" #Godigitalinlaw #COPEJI7_0_ #law

We are excited to share our latest contribution to discussions on GenAI and Technology-Assisted Review in legal document review. In light of ongoing industry debates, this paper introduces a TAR 1 reference model to demonstrate the relationship between GenAI and traditional TAR algorithm workflows.“TAR 1 Reference Model: An Established Framework Unifying Traditional and GenAI Approaches to Technology-Assisted Review,” by Tara Emory, Jeremy Pickens, and Wilzette Louis, is available from The Sedona Conference Journal. The TAR 1 Reference Model can serve as a blueprint for understanding, building, and testing TAR review workflows, including GenAI, traditional and hybrid workflows.Highlights of the paper include: • Analysis of GenAI’s role in document review • A TAR 1 Reference Model, with detailed explanations of each step of the document review process that is already known for defensibility and efficiency • Comparison of traditional and GenAI algorithm applications to TAR, demonstrating what is the same and what is really different (not that much!) • Key considerations for legal professionals contemplating a choice between traditional and GenAI solutions • A forward-looking discussion on potential for hybrid workflows that blend GenAI with traditional machine learning algorithms, setting the stage for more innovations in document review.Check out the paper: https://lnkd.in/eS-wFrbT and Reference Model (https://lnkd.in/e2xTrA_Q), and let us know your thoughts!#legaltech #ediscovery #GenerativeAI #Legal

"Although generative AI will continue to dominate the discussion, lawyers in 2024 will come down from that «5-Hour Energy» high and concentrate on AI-powered solutions that can make a real impact on their client’s work. They will be in competition with owners of large amounts of copyrighted legal informationand knowledge, and with developers that can leverage their proprietary technology with law firm client’s data.Law firms are facing a buyer’s market for legal services, with transactional work down and «run-the-company» litigation going more and more to the lowest bidder (often ALSP’s). Technology can tip the scales in each direction, either enabling traditional law firms to offer better value or enabling small teamsof highly specialized individual lawyers to cooperate on projects, passing on cost savings to clients. We will see more consolidation both among legaltech vendorsand among law firms in 2024."Holger Zscheyge- Managing Director of Infotropic Media,European Legal Technology Association (ELTA)Treasurer#legaltech#legalinnovation#artificialintelligence#generativeaihttps://lnkd.in/dkBx2fY2

In this short article for the Network Law Review, I argue that the only way to develop a working theory of ecosystems in antitrust is through complexity science. I use #GenerativeAI as an example to show that a complexity mindset doesn’t rhyme with a complicated approach https://lnkd.in/eNnD3BjX.
