The Scottish Borders is renowned for having some of the most varied and beautiful, yet accessible riding country in Britain. Tracks once used by the marauding and pillaging Reivers for stealing cattle, today provide peaceful ways for exploring the rolling countryside of the Borders on horseback.
There are ten guided rides at the 2008 Borders Festival of the Horse and this year’s theme is Reivers and Rustlers, supported by Forestry Commission Scotland.
2008 Guided Rides
Guided Ride to the South of Kelso
Caverton Hillhead, Kelso. Situated between B6401 and B6436 – signposted to Bowmont Forest.

6pm – 9pm • £10 • Booking required • Own Horse: Yes
Most of this circular ride will be on grass and through forestry taking in Caverton Mill, Cessford and Whitton. Riders must be experienced as there will be long canters along tracks and grass margins.
All ages welcome (children must be accompanied).
