Over the years the Scottish Borders have been the birthplace of a variety of extraordinary human and equine heroes who have gone on to change the world in some way, be it sporting prowess, by inventing, discovering or in war. In 2009, the SEIB Borders Festival of the Horse has eight themed guided rides that will follow in the footsteps of great local names. The Borders are renowned for having some of the most varied and beautiful, yet accessible riding country in Britain. This Borders landscape that shaped such entrepreneurial and intrepid people and competitive and brave equines, today provides a network of tracks and beautiful rolling countryside that can be peacefully explored on horseback.
There are eight guided rides at the 2009 SEIF Borders Festival of the Horse and this year's theme is Heroes, Heroines and Horses of the Borders, supported by Forestry Commission Scotland.
