The programme of events at this year’s Borders Festival of the Horse offers a 13-day gourmet choice of equestrian activities for riders and spectators. All aspects of equestrianism are covered from “try your hand” events to the BHS Borders Grand Competition Day - the choice is endless!

open day at dryden riding centre

Dryden Riding Centre, Ashkirk, Selkirk (signposted off A7 north of Ashkirk)

 

10am onwards. Refreshments available. Disabled access and facilities: good.

 

A chance for everyone to see a typical day at a busy BHS approved riding centre. Mixed displays from college students, GYP group demonstrating horse therapy sessions, RDA open day, lesson for staff from Ian Stark OBE, vaulting and other lessons.

"Road Proof Your Horse" - demonstration by Lothian & Borders police horses

Duns Livery Yard, Berwick Road, Duns, Berwickshire TD11 3LR

 

Incorporating Rural Road Safety Awareness Event.

 

BHS joins forces with Lothian & Borders Police Mounted Branch, the Jim Clark Rally and World Rally Champion 1990 Louise Aitken-Walker MBE.

 

Photocall at 5pm followed by an hour long demonstration by the mounted police.

Lempitlaw Farm, Kelso TD5 8BN. Next door to Holefield Cross Country, signposted from B6396.

 

5pm: 30cm and 45cm, clear round - £3

6pm: 60cm, 75cm etc, competition - £5

 

All welcome. Entries on the field. No booking required. Disabled access & facilities: fairly level surface for spectating.

Learn dressage the fun way with tuition, encouragement and support. Taster sessions for the terrified. British Dressage Introductory Test A, British Dressage 12 and 20.
