Programme of Events 2008

The programme of events at this year’s Borders Festival of the Horse offers an 11-day gourmet choice of equestrian activities for riders and spectators. All aspects of equestrianism are covered from “try your hand” events to the BHS Borders Grand Competition Day - the choice is endless!

Riders of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to learn about the growing sport of BHS TREC. Peelham Farm (Foulden, near Eyemouth) are hosting a training day on Sat 24th May followed by a competition on Sun 25th May. You can download the entry form here.

An evening with heavy horses

Singlie Farm, Ettrick, Selkirk TD7 5HW. Take B7009 from Selkirk to Ettrickbridge. Farm is 2 miles through village on left hand side.

6.30pm – 9pm • Entrance by charity donation • No booking required • All ages welcome

A chance to see these magnificent, gentle equine giants in their own setting. There will be mares, foals and other young stock to see plus a chance to view a working demonstration of driving in harness. Please wear suitable clothing and strong footwear.

Art Exhibition “The Horse and the Borders”

McHardy’s Gallery, Biggiesknowe, Peebles EH45. From Innerleithen turn onto Peebles High Street, travel to far end then turn right over the Cuddy Bridge. Gallery is on right hand side.

Borders FEstival Dressage evenings at Broomhill Selkirk

Broomhill Farm, Selkirk TD7 4PS.

Starts 4.30pm • Booking required •£12 • 14 years and over        

An opportunity to encourage riders to come along, try dressage for the first time, learn and have fun. Novice Test 21 and Elementary Test 41.

Emergency First Aid Training

Springwood Park, Kelso TD5 8LS

9.30am – 4.30pm • £45 + VAT (£52-88) • Booking required

This is a one day course certified by Lantra which will cover all aspects of basic First Aid including dealing with accidents, injuries and emergencies specifically targeted at horse related activities.
