Programme of Events 2008

The programme of events at this year’s Borders Festival of the Horse offers an 11-day gourmet choice of equestrian activities for riders and spectators. All aspects of equestrianism are covered from “try your hand” events to the BHS Borders Grand Competition Day - the choice is endless!

Riders of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to learn about the growing sport of BHS TREC. Peelham Farm (Foulden, near Eyemouth) are hosting a training day on Sat 24th May followed by a competition on Sun 25th May. You can download the entry form here.

A Day in the Life of a Top Riding Centre!

Dryden Riding Centre, Ashkirk, Selkirk. On A7 between Hawick and Selkirk.

An opportunity to see a typical day in the life of a BHS approved Riding Centre. A variety of lessons will take place during the day including RDA and work by local college students. All levels and standards of riders and horses will be on view. All ages welcome.

An Evening of Dressage

Dryden Riding Centre, Ashkirk, Selkirk. On A7 between Hawick and Selkirk.

Demonstration of basic riding movements by members of the Ettrick Forest Rider’s Association on horses of varying standards and abilities. Commentary by Fiona Busby.

Art Exhibition “The Horse and the Borders”

McHardy’s Gallery, Biggiesknowe, Peebles EH45. From Innerleithen turn onto Peebles High Street, travel to far end then turn right over the Cuddy Bridge. Gallery is on right hand side.

Borders FEstival Dressage evenings at Broomhill Selkirk

Broomhill Farm, Selkirk TD7 4PS.

An opportunity to encourage riders to come along, try dressage for the first time, learn and have fun. Walk, trot, dressage A. Preliminary 4.

4.30pm – 7.30pm • Entrance by Charity Donation to Equibuddy • Booking required for participants

All equipment will be provided. Participants should wear close fitting, stretchy clothes and soft soled gymnastic slippers. Full briefing and help will be given under the supervision of experienced, qualified coaches working with well trained horses. 5 years and over to participate. All ages welcome to spectate (no booking required).
