Programme of Events 2008

The programme of events at this year’s Borders Festival of the Horse offers an 11-day gourmet choice of equestrian activities for riders and spectators. All aspects of equestrianism are covered from “try your hand” events to the BHS Borders Grand Competition Day - the choice is endless!

Riders of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to learn about the growing sport of BHS TREC. Peelham Farm (Foulden, near Eyemouth) are hosting a training day on Sat 24th May followed by a competition on Sun 25th May. You can download the entry form here.

Art Exhibition “The Horse and the Borders”

McHardy’s Gallery, Biggiesknowe, Peebles EH45. From Innerleithen turn onto Peebles High Street, travel to far end then turn right over the Cuddy Bridge. Gallery is on right hand side.

Come & Try Horse Riding

Kelloe Stables, Duns. Signed for Kelloe of A1506 Duns to Chirnside Road. Go 1.5 miles and through Lodge Gates. Follow drive to the end.

8.30am – 2.30pm • Adults £5 • Under 16 £3 • Booking preferred • 5 years and up welcome

Come and try a 10 – 15 minute taster of riding a horse. All horses are quiet and well schooled to suit ages from 5 upwards. Sessions will be held under instruction from Wendy Turnbull BHSAI.

Versatility of Our Native Breeds

Ayton Castle Stables, Ayton, Berwickshire TD14 5RD

Disabled access & facilities: All on ground level

6.30pm-8.30pm • Adults/Children £3 • No booking required

A demonstration to be held in the picturesque Ayton Castle Grounds. All nine native pony breeds will show their versatility demonstrated by well known native pony producer – Richard Telford. Please bring chairs, warm clothing and umbrellas as demonstration will be outside.
