Programme of Events 2008

The programme of events at this year’s Borders Festival of the Horse offers an 11-day gourmet choice of equestrian activities for riders and spectators. All aspects of equestrianism are covered from “try your hand” events to the BHS Borders Grand Competition Day - the choice is endless!

Riders of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to learn about the growing sport of BHS TREC. Peelham Farm (Foulden, near Eyemouth) are hosting a training day on Sat 24th May followed by a competition on Sun 25th May. You can download the entry form here.

Art Exhibition “The Horse and the Borders”

McHardy’s Gallery, Biggiesknowe, Peebles EH45. From Innerleithen turn onto Peebles High Street, travel to far end then turn right over the Cuddy Bridge. Gallery is on right hand side.

An exhibition of equine and border landscape paintings by Scottish Borders artist Marie C Keay.

Floors Castle International Horse Trials

Floors Castle, Kelso

Disabled access and facilities: Parking and toilet available on site

8.30am – 6pm • £10/ car • No Booking required for spectators

• Competitors have to be members of British Eventing • Riders must be 14 and over

One day horse trial for riders from home and abroad consisting of dressage, cross country and showjumping. Also selection of quality tradestands including refreshments and bar.

Les Amis d’Onno present – “The Magic Carousel “ Equestrian Theatre

Bowhill Stables, Bowhill, Selkirk TD7 5ES. 3 miles from Selkirk on the A708 Selkirk to Moffat Road. Signposted.

3pm – 4.30pm • Adults £12 • Children £8 • Booking required

The Magic Carousel is a charming tale of toy box toys set to music with beautiful costumes, 3 magnificant Friesian horses and a cheeky Fjord pony. Sword fighting, unicycling, whip cracking and stunt riding complement ridden pieces and horses at liberty.
